The performance of the BJP in reserved constituencies shows that their pre-election decision to increase the reservation quota for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) populations in Karnataka did not succeed. The party's total of SC-reserved constituencies fell from 16 in 2018 to 12 this year, after winning seven seats in ST-reserved last time.
The Janata Dal (Secular) won one of the ST seats, while the Congress won 14 of the 15 ST seats and 21 of the 36 SC seats that were allotted for them. Both of these figures represent a significant boost for the Congress, which in 2018 gained seven ST members and twelve SC seats.
Good 👍
